Human nature is to rely on our memories as a factual record of the passage of time. But that chronicle often consists of just a wisp of something — a place, a flash, a smell, a feeling. Sometimes beautiful and sometimes uneasy, our memories are a construction viewed through the haze of our emotions and uniquely personal histories.

All of the images in this portfolio were photographed using a Bakelite camera from the 1930’s. Creating a physical manifestation of memory through landscapes, the resulting effects reveal a unique perspective on the world around us…one that is simultaneously transitory and everlasting.
