Faceted Self

My self-portraiture reflects my ongoing interest in universal themes like memory and family, but viewed through the lens of my journey from a troubled upbringing into adulthood. While acting as a mirror for a particular emotion or point in time, the work is also bound together by the use of unconventional materials. Newsprint, photocopies, and cardboard come together with charcoal, ink, watercolor crayon, and non-traditional darkroom techniques to create an ever-evolving discovery of the self.
